Draw it. Recall it. Prove it.

Doodle Vu is a daily drawing memory game that challenges your mind's eye. Study a drawing, then recreate it from memory. Simple concept, surprisingly hard — and oddly addictive.

What is Doodle Vu?

Every day, Doodle Vu presents you with a new drawing to memorize. You study it for a few seconds, it disappears, and then you draw it from memory on a blank canvas. An AI scoring engine instantly compares your drawing to the original and gives you a similarity score.

Think of it as Wordle for visual memory. One puzzle a day, a streak to maintain, and that satisfying feeling when you nail a tricky drawing. But unlike word puzzles, Doodle Vu engages a completely different part of your brain — your visual-spatial memory, your hand-eye coordination, and your ability to hold an image in your mind's eye.

The game is free to play in your browser on any device. No download required, no account needed to start. Just tap play and draw.

Eight Ways to Test Your Brain

Doodle Vu isn't just one game — it's a suite of eight distinct game modes, each targeting different cognitive skills. Classic tests pure visual recall. Mirror forces you to flip the image mentally before drawing. Rotation challenges spatial reasoning by rotating the target. Blind Draw removes visual feedback entirely — you draw without seeing your strokes. Sprint ramps up the pressure with progressive speed rounds. Color Pick tests selective attention with multi-color targets. And The Gauntlet is the ultimate working memory challenge: memorize the next drawing while you're still drawing the current one.

There's also a Practice mode for warming up with no time pressure. Whether you want a quick daily brain exercise or an intense cognitive workout, there's a mode for you.

How Scoring Works

Every drawing you submit is scored instantly by a neural network that runs entirely in your browser. There's no server round-trip, no waiting — your score appears the moment you finish drawing. The AI analyzes the structural similarity between your drawing and the target, accounting for line placement, proportions, and overall shape fidelity.

Scores range from 0 to 100. The score tiers go from "Keep Practicing" through "Nice Work" and "Great Recall" all the way to "PERFECT RECALL" for scores of 95 and above. Higher scores trigger celebratory confetti animations — because you earned them.

The Story Behind Doodle Vu

Doodle Vu was built by a mechanical engineer — not a software developer. The concept lived as a dream for over ten years: a game that tests the gap between what you think you remember and what you can actually reproduce. The idea was always there, but the coding skills weren't.

What changed was AI-assisted development. By partnering with AI coding tools, a non-programmer was finally able to bring this decade-old vision to life. Every line of code was a collaboration — human creativity and intent, AI technical execution. The result is a full-featured web application with real-time neural network scoring, eight game modes, social features, streak tracking, and a polished mobile-first interface.

It's proof that you don't need a CS degree to build the app you've been dreaming about. You just need the idea, the persistence, and the right tools.

The Art

Doodle Vu's target drawings come from two sources. The core library uses the Google Quick, Draw! dataset — a massive open-source collection of millions of hand-drawn sketches contributed by players around the world, available under a Creative Commons license.

On top of that, a local artist creates original hand-drawn illustrations exclusively for Doodle Vu. These custom drawings, created on an iPad using Procreate, add personality and variety to the game. New artwork rolls out regularly through a curated content pipeline, keeping the daily puzzles fresh and surprising.

Built for Your Browser

Doodle Vu runs entirely in your web browser. The scoring AI loads once and runs locally — your drawings never leave your device unless you opt in to help improve the scoring engine. The app is mobile-first, works offline after first load, and is designed to feel as smooth as a native app. No app store download needed — just visit doodlevu.app and play.
